Set Theory & Venn Diagrams

Master set operators and intersections. Shading Venn operations in real-time, sort shapes based on mathematical attributes, and test set logic.

Venn Operator Visualizer

Set theory forms the logical bedrock of data science. Use the buttons below to select a set operation and watch the overlapping circular lenses shade the corresponding region of Set A and Set B.

Set Operator Statement

A ∩ B (Intersection)
Set Operator Logic:
The Intersection (A ∩ B) contains only the elements that belong to Set A AND Set B simultaneously. It represents the shared overlap of both circular sets.

Attribute Sorting Bay

Select attribute criteria for Set A (left) and Set B (right). Drag shapes from the cargo bay at the bottom and place them into the correct circles. Dropping a shape in an incorrect region will return it to the bay.

Current Sorting Goal:
- Left Circle (A): Only Red Shapes that are NOT circles.
- Right Circle (B): Only Circles that are NOT red.
- Overlap (A ∩ B): Shapes that are BOTH Red Circles.
- Background: Anything else (e.g. blue triangles).

Focus Area Vocabulary

  • Intersection (∩): Shared elements (AND)
  • Union (∪): Combined elements (OR)
  • Complement (A'): All elements NOT in set A
